Pi Omicron Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha
The Pi Omicron Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha was installed at UCI on May 28, 1987 by then-Chancellor Jack Peltason and then-Dean William Schonfeld, both political scientists and members of Pi Sigma Alpha. Over the past 30 years more than 1000 UCI students and faculty have become members of the Pi Omicron Chapter. Membership is conferred upon advanced undergraduate students who meet high scholastic standards in their overall studies and even higher standards of achievement in the political science major. To be selected for membership in the Pi Omicron Chapter, a UCI student must have completed at least seven political science courses (28 units), attained a 3.35 GPA in their overall course work, and a 3.65 GPA in their political science courses.
These awards are based on faculty nomination and award recipients are announced at the department’s End of the Year celebration.
